11 Tasty Summer Dessert Ideas for a Crowd

You know that moment when you’re assigned to bring dessert for a summer gathering, and suddenly it feels like the fate of the entire event rests in your hands?

Yeah, that was me. I needed a dessert for 10+ people—something easy, make-ahead friendly, and guaranteed to impress without requiring a pastry chef’s degree.

I turned to my go-to strategy: asking the internet. And let me tell you, the responses did not disappoint.

If you’re in the same boat, don’t stress—I’ve got you.

Here are the best summer dessert ideas that are light, refreshing, and perfect for feeding a crowd.

1. Angel Food Cake with Fresh Berries and Chantilly Cream

Light, airy, and so easy to throw together!

I love how angel food cake soaks up berry juices without getting soggy.

I topped mine with a mix of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, then added a dollop of Chantilly cream (which is just fancy whipped cream).

It’s elegant but super simple!

2. Ice Cream Cake or Pie

Ice cream cake is always a hit in the summer.

I made one with an Oreo crust, layered vanilla and chocolate ice cream, and topped it with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle.

If you want something even easier, an ice cream pie with a graham cracker crust works too.

3. Fruit Tart with Crème Pâtissière

I was torn between making a tart or a cobbler, but I went with a fruit tart because it looks so pretty!

A crisp pastry shell filled with creamy custard and topped with fresh berries—what’s not to love?

Bonus: You can prep the crust and filling separately the night before and assemble it in the morning.

Cobblers are so forgiving. Just toss fresh (or frozen) fruit with a little sugar, top it with a biscuit or crumble topping, and bake.

I made a blueberry cobbler, and the combination of warm fruit with cold vanilla ice cream was perfect.
